A rare and beautiful ivory or bone plaque depicting the Mother Goddess. Sunga period, 2nd-1st century B.C. Chandraketugarh area in West Bengal, India. The plaques left side had been broken,with two pieces re-attached.4.5cm x 9cm, 3 5/8"x 1 3/4". It looks like ancient ivory, but Christie's sold a similar piece as bone. If anyone can give me any information regarding this I would be most appreciative.

A large Tibetan carved wood manuscript cover, with traces of red and black lacquer and gilding. 24 3/8" x 8 7/8" x 1 1/2". A central seated Buddha is surrounded by thirty-eight other Buddhas. End piece has a central Buddha flanked by seven other figures. circa 15th to 18th century.
