A Japanese 18th c. polychromed wood figure of Nichiren

A good figure of Nichiren of joined blocked construction with polychrome and gilt over a gesso ground. It has inlaid glass eyes and is inscribed on base in red ink, indicating a date of 1688. 9.5"(24cm) high.
